[Camden, New Jersey] – ResinTech, a leader in water treatment solutions, today announced that its innovative Hydra PFAS Reduction System has received official certification from The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), confirming the system meets NSF/ANSI standards for PFAS removal from drinking water. The company is now accepting orders for this groundbreaking residential water treatment solution.

The Hydra PFAS Reduction System is the first resin-based system of its kind in the residential water treatment market. This revolutionary point-of-use water treatment solution addresses growing concerns about PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), often referred to as “forever chemicals,” which have been detected in drinking water supplies across the country.

“Achieving official certification validates years of dedicated research and development,” said Larry Gottlieb, President and Chief Technologist at ResinTech. “Our SIR-110-HP resin technology represents a breakthrough in residential PFAS treatment, offering homeowners a reliable, high-performance solution that significantly outperforms traditional carbon filtration. With the EPA’s strict 4 parts per trillion standards still in effect, we’re proud to deliver a system that provides exceptional protection against these persistent contaminants.”

Proven Technology Now Available

At the core of the system is ResinTech’s Aries Pro series AF-3612 drop-in style filter cartridge, powered by the company’s industry-leading SIR-110-HP PFAS ion exchange resin. This specialized resin has been Gold Seal Certified by the Water Quality Association (WQA) as meeting ANSI/NSF standard 61 for safe use in drinking water applications.

The SIR-110-HP resin offers substantial advantages over traditional granular activated carbon filters:

  • Up to 10 times greater capacity for PFAS removal
  • Faster kinetics requiring less contact time for effective filtration
  • High-purity, pH-buffered strong base anion formulation specifically engineered for PFAS compounds

The pH buffering capability of SIR-110-HP is particularly valuable, as it ensures consistent performance regardless of variations in source water conditions. This feature maintains optimal ion exchange efficiency, extends the service life of the resin, prevents potential leaching of contaminants, and protects downstream plumbing from pH-related issues—all contributing to more reliable and effective PFAS removal across diverse water environments.

Comprehensive PFAS Protection

The certified system effectively removes multiple PFAS compounds including:

  • PFOA (Perfluorooctanoic acid)
  • PFOS (Perfluorooctane sulfonic acid)
  • PFNA (Perfluorononanoic acid)
  • PFHxS (Perfluorohexane sulfonic acid)
  • PFHpA (Perfluoroheptanoic acid)
  • PFBS (Perfluorobutane sulfonic acid)
  • HFPO-DA (Hexafluoropropylene oxide dimer acid)

Ready-to-Install Solutions

The Hydra PFAS Reduction System is available in four standard configurations to meet various residential needs:

  1. 10″ Slimline
  2. 20″ Slimline
  3. 10″ Big Blue
  4. 20″ Big Blue

Each model features a single-bowl, wall-mounted design with simple installation requirements that integrates seamlessly with existing residential plumbing systems. The ready-to-use configuration eliminates complex setup procedures, allowing for quick implementation in virtually any home.

Meeting Critical Market Demand
“The official certification couldn’t come at a more important time,” said Kevin Osborn, Residential Sales Manager at ResinTech. “With the EPA’s new drinking water standards for PFOA and PFOS now fully in effect, we’re already seeing tremendous demand from homeowners, contractors, and water treatment professionals who need proven solutions. Our certified Hydra PFAS Reduction System delivers the performance and reliability they require, with the flexibility to serve virtually any residential application, from small apartments to large single-family homes, even mobile homes. We’re excited to begin fulfilling orders and getting these systems into homes and businesses across America.”

Understanding PFAS and Their Health Impacts
PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are a series of man-made chemical compounds that persist in the environment for long periods of time, often called “forever chemicals.” For decades, PFAS chemicals have been used in industry and consumer products such as nonstick cookware, waterproof clothing, and stain-resistant furniture.

Health Concerns
According to the EPA, PFAS exposure over a long period of time can cause cancer and other serious illnesses that decrease quality of life or result in death. PFAS exposure during critical life stages such as pregnancy or early childhood can also result in adverse health impacts. Studies have linked PFAS exposure to:

  • Increased risk of certain cancers
  • Liver damage
  • Cardiovascular issues including heart attacks and strokes
  • Reproductive complications and birth complications
  • Developmental issues in children and infants
  • Decreased vaccine response in children
  • Thyroid hormone disruption

Federal Regulations
On April 9, 2024, the EPA established the first-ever national, legally enforceable drinking water standards for PFAS by implementing a National Primary Drinking Water Regulation (NPDWR). This landmark rule sets strict limits for several PFAS.

The Trump administration has rolled back or delayed some regulations, shifting the burden of regulation to the states. However, other federal regulations remain in place — most notably the EPA’s national drinking water standards for PFOA and PFOS and reasserted the CERCLA designation as hazardous substances.

Availability and Ordering
The certified Hydra PFAS Reduction System is now available for order through ResinTech’s authorized distributor network. Installation can be performed by qualified water treatment professionals or experienced plumbers.
